Some times you come across a cookie that has great flavor but such a plain look. With these sugar cookies you will be able to spruce up an average looking cookie, that’s just as equally easy to decorate, as it is to make.

Sugar Heart Cookies

Sugar Heart Cookies

1. 3 ¼ Cups Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
2. 1 ½ Teaspoon baking Powder
3. ½ Teaspoon salt
4. 1 ¼ Cups Unsalted Butter
5. 1 ¼ Cups Sugar
6. 1 Large egg
7. 1 Tablespoon Milk
8. 2 ½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
9. Parchment Paper
10. 1 cup Royal Icing
11. Three Different Food Coloring Of Your Choice
12. Icing Bag
13. Icing Tip #2
14. Toothpicks

Baking the Cookies

1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Line a couple of baking sheets with parchment paper
2. In a mixer, mix all wet ingredient and mix well till blended
3. Once the ingredients are “fluffy” add in dry ingredients slowly till well blended
4. Now you will want to roll out dough to ¼ inch thick, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
5. Next you can cut to any shape you would like (I used a heart shape to show a little more love for my family) or just roll them out into balls
6. After cutting the shapes bake for 6-9 minutes (Don’t place to close as they will expand while cooking) You want them to be lightly golden
7. Once golden brown remove from oven and let cool for 20 minutes
When It Comes To Icing The Cookies It Is Super Easy (so don’t be put off!)

1. Using the colors you have picked, use the icing bags to make a line starting at the edge and go edge to edge once with each color. You will repeat this until cookie is covered in icing lines
2. Last you take a toothpick and starting by placing toothpick in the icing and drag it across the icing through each color. This will continue till you have completed all the cookie

This is a great recipe for a craving or to entertain with. You can become as creative as you want with the swirling. It’s always so nice to find a simple cookie that is so pretty.
